Valentine’s grief

Valentine’s Day has always felt very spiritual to me. Although it’s mostly associated with overpriced floral arrangements and cheap thoughts, it’s a moment for me to reflect on my love for close ones – living and deceased. One of my most honoured Valentine’s was attending a funeral when I was young. It just felt like such a beautiful choice of a day to celebrate the life of a loved one.

I’ll be spending today with friends and loved ones, but this month has been a tricky one for joy. Heartbreak never gets old. I’m grateful that I get to spend today in a room full of people who aren’t ashamed of what skin I’m in. I am loved.

If today is tricky for you, be gentle to yourself, too. Happy Valentine’s Day.
